2014 Travel Baseball Team Tryouts: U10-U14

Dear Parents,
Tryouts for the 2014 Spring and Summer Travel Baseball teams are right around the corner.  There will be one more pre-tryout workout on Sunday, February 9th at Frozen Ropes in Union (60 Milltown Road).

The schedule for Sunday is as follows:
U13/14: 3pm-4pm
U10: 4pm-5pm
U11: 5pm-6pm
U12: 6pm-7pm

The schedule for the tryouts will be as follows:
U10: Monday, February 10th from 6pm-9pm
U11: Tuesday, February 11th from 6pm-9pm
U12: Wednesday, February 12th from 6pm-9pm
U13/14: Thursday, February 13th from 6pm-9pm

Players participating in the tryouts should not wear any part of their travel uniform (hat or jersey) to the tryouts.  Parents should plan on dropping the players off at Frozen Ropes and plan on picking them up when the tryouts are over.  Parents will not be permitted to stay at Frozen Ropes during the 3-hour tryout session.  Carpooling is encouraged due to the limited parking at the facility.

The tryout will consist of 3 parts which will be used to calculate the participant's tryout score:
1) Hitting (using Frozen Ropes pitching machines)
2) Fielding (scored on catching/fielding/throwing)
3) Hitting (live pitching conducted by Frozen Ropes professional pitching instructors)

New to the tryout this year will be a pitching evaluation.  This station will be optional but we encourage all participants to participate.  The score received in the pitching evaluation will not be added to the participant's overall score, but will be used by the Travel Committee when team determination is conducted.  Players will not be penalized by a poor score, but a good score in this evaluation may help in team placement.

Finally, there are no makeups scheduled for this year's tryouts.  Please make every attempt to have your son participate during their assigned session.  Under extraordinary circumstances, the Travel Committee will evaluate an inability to make the tryouts on a case by case basis.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Jeff Fitzgerald ( ).

Best regards,
Baseball Club of Chatham
